How to use it
Choose a format
Rotating partners (a “mixer”) gives everyone a new partner each round. Fixed teams keeps pairs together. Singles is one-on-one.
Players & courts
The generator fills every court it can and spreads sit-outs evenly when numbers don’t divide by four. Paste names – one per line – if you want them on the sheet.
Print or download
Use Print for a clean sheet or Download CSV for Google Sheets or Excel. Don’t like the draw? Press Shuffle.
Which round robin format should I pick?
| Your group | Best format | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Open play, mixed levels, people who want to meet everyone | Rotating partners | New partner every round, nobody stuck with the same team |
| Pairs who signed up together | Fixed teams | Every team plays every other team once |
| Ladder or skills night | Singles | Pure one-on-one results |
| Very mixed levels, short games | Up & Down the River | Winners move up a court, losers move down: everyone ends up playing at their level |

Frequently asked questions
Is the round robin generator free?
Yes. No sign-up and no app to install – it works on your phone at the courts.
What happens with an odd number of players?
The bye goes to the players who have sat out least, and nobody sits out twice in a row when it can be avoided.
Can I keep scores?
Print the sheet and write scores in each box, or download the CSV and add a score column in Google Sheets.
Does it avoid repeat partners?
Yes. In rotating-partner mode it tries many draws and keeps the one with the fewest repeated partners and opponents. If a repeat is unavoidable – too many rounds for the group size – it tells you.
How many rounds should I play?
With n players, about n − 1 rounds lets everyone partner with almost everyone. For a 90-minute session, 6–8 rounds of games to 11 is typical.
